Are You Being Brave for God?

Yesterday, I witnessed a true act of bravery for God. I was sitting at the car dealership minding my own business waiting for my car to be serviced. In walks a nicely dressed man with graying hair. He proceeds to walk around to each person, about twenty of us, and hands us a small packet of information about God.

You might ask, what was so brave about this? Well, this middle-aged man was deaf. He wore a proud smile on his face and tried to communicate by speaking in sounds that were unintelligible.

He wanted to share the love that God had shown him with others. And what struck me was his simple bravery. He could not speak clearly, yet he was brave enough to try to share God’s message of love and the gospel to others— the hope of eternal life.

This man didn’t let his disability keep him from God’s calling on his life—to share the gospel with others.

I hope I get another chance to meet him on earth or in Heaven one day and thank him for showing me to be brave for God.

When he handed me the information, I looked at him and said, “I am a believer.” He must have been able to read lips because his eyes beamed, and he gave me a great smile. We shared a special moment with one another.

Boy did I feel like a LOSER! There I was doing nothing but just sitting there minding my own business. But that was easy for me. It was comfortable. It wasn’t out of my wheel house to sit there and mind my own business.

God doesn’t want us to sit there and mind our own business—He wants us to share the gospel with others at any time, in any place, or in any situation.

Going up to strangers and sharing my faith will never be easy for me because I am inherently a very shy person. I much prefer to write about my faith.

But, sometimes God wants us to be brave and step outside of our comfort zone to share our faith or to stand firm on something in scripture that isn’t a popular sentiment of today like the subject of abortion.

“He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation’” (Mark 16:15 NIV).

“Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God,” (2 Timothy 1:8 ESV).

He wants us to use the power of the Holy Spirit to share our testimonies that pertain to Christ.

This man inspired me to share this story with you, and he showed me to be braver for God. I hope this will inspire you to be brave for God too.

Be Blessed,
