Hope and Healing After an Abortion

I am a Christian. I believe that the words in the Bible were either spoken by God or were God -breathed into life. Every word in the Bible is true. “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV).

I am not perfect. I make mistakes and sometimes I sin. Despite my best efforts to live a Godly life, I fail. But God gives me new chances every day to get it right. And He does the same for you too. Grace and forgiveness are greater than our sins. And that is the beauty of being a Christian--knowing that your salvation is secure and our sins can be forgiven. “For God’s gifts and his call can never be withdrawn; he will never go back on his promises” (Romans 11:29 TLB).

My greatest regret in my life was having an abortion in my early twenties. Although, I have experienced forgiveness through the love of Jesus Christ, the experience remains my life’s greatest regret.

I don’t believe in abortion. Just because a baby can’t live outside of the womb before three months doesn’t mean that it should be murdered on the back of convenience. God is the giver and taker of life and every baby has a soul given to them by God. “The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life (Job 33:4 NIV).

Mothers and fathers should not take their own children’s lives…that is a burden they were never meant to carry. I know this, well, because of my abortion. And I know that abortion is not the answer—ever. I suffered for years with anger and depression left from this horrible decision that has impacted myself and others in my life negatively. See, I told you I wasn’t perfect. For the full story about my abortion and recovery see my blog. http://www.allisond.com/blog/understanding-god-s-forgiveness

Please don’t just take my word for it. Go to the Bible and read it. And you will find truth and wisdom there as well. When I was saved in 2012, my life changed dramatically for the better because I became a new creation in Christ though God’s infinite power. He has the power to change you too as He did me. He has the power to forgive you of any wrong or sin you have done in your life…even abortion.

And once I was saved, forgiveness finally came too –after suffering from the guilt for twenty plus years from my abortion, I experienced healing.

God can forgive you too. Repent, turn from your sin, and be forgiven.

Be Blessed,
