Have you ever wondered how the birth of Christ would have gone, if Mary had said NO to the angel of the Lord?
It is in the YES’s to God where we find life and purpose.
I have been reminded lately how important it is to say yes to God. We can find some of those ways in His commands like, do not fear, or do not lie.
It’s also in the situations that matter too. Like when God asks you in your heart to do something, and you say yes. These yes’s can have a profound impact on you and on others as well.
Recently, I was messaged on Facebook by a friend who I have not talked to in about four or five years. She thanked me for saying yes to her one day when she wanted to share a testimony with me about how we are covered by God’s righteousness. I could have easily said no to her, but I didn’t.
She was so grateful to me for listening to her that day. I had no idea that simply listening to her would make such a big impact on her. She thanked me for letting her share and open up to me. I did not know that sharing was so hard for her. Nor did I know that the conversation we had would make a lasting impact on her.
It is when we stop to listen, to do things for others in kindness, and take the time to just be there in the moment, that can make such big impacts in our lives and in the lives of others.
I think back to another time when I said yes to God. Like when I was asked to serve in the youth ministry at my church as a leader, I had no idea what it would all entail, but four years later that ministry blessed me in so many ways. And I know it was a blessing to many others too.
I was reminded again this week about saying yes, as God put on my heart to serve him in a new way at church. He asked, and I simply said yes. I have no idea what is in store for me in this next stage and adventure in ministry, but I am saying yes, a big yes to God!
We can often be afraid or don’t feel that we are qualified to serve the Lord, but I can promise you that God will meet you in the yes. If He is calling you, He will equip you. So don’t be afraid. Get out there and say yes to God.
Be Blessed,
