You Can Do It!

by Allison Dillaberry

Have you ever wanted to just give up on someone or something?

Sometimes relationships are really hard. And certain seasons in our life can be very difficult like learning a new job, finishing school, or surviving cancer. Not to mention, COVID 19, hurricanes, wildfires, floods, and all the other difficult things 2020 has brought us.

There can be difficult things in life that may make us feel like quitting or giving up. However, nowhere in the Bible does God say just quit or give up. I want to encourage you today to stay faithful and don’t give up on the good things God has for you. He promises you a hope and a future, and He is good.

There are many Bible verses of hope like Galatians 6:9 that says, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

We can take heart that these hard times are only for a season. God gives us examples throughout the Bible of people who went through struggles too, but were redeemed. People like Job, Joseph, and Ruth. We can read that through their faithfulness, God blessed them.

In the book of Job, Job lost all of his children and much more. But through Job’s faithfulness, God gave him more children and restored his wealth and family twofold.

In the book of Ruth, Ruth lost her husband, brother-in-law, and father-in-law. But because she was faithful and followed Naomi (her mother-in-law) and Naomi’s God, Ruth ended up marrying Boaz (a good and wealthy man), and her life was restored.

In the book of Genesis, Joseph’s brothers threw him into a pit simply because they were jealous of him and then sold him into slavery. But because Joseph was faithful to God and worked hard for Pharaoh, Joseph rose to prominence as second in command in Egypt. He listened to God and acted faithfully, so God gave Joseph a long life and restored his relationship with his family.

Each one of these people from the Bible went through horrible loss and painful things, but they never lost sight of God. They stayed true to the one real God, never gave up, and were faithful to walk out God’s plans for their lives.

God knows our struggles. Go to Him! Pray, hold onto Him, and don’t give up. The rainbow is just over the next mountain top.

Be Blessed,
